Intro

Casino delivers a brand of rock that feels lived-in and unpretentious, rooted in the muscular guitar traditions of Birmingham. It is music that prioritizes the groove and the hook, delivered with a raspy, soulful vocal performance that sounds like it has seen a few long nights. The sound is polished enough for a film soundtrack but retains the grit of a basement rehearsal space.

What sets them apart is a specific intersection of indie-rock sensibility and classic rock soul. While many of their contemporaries leaned into the jagged edges of post-punk revival, Casino maintained a warmer, more melodic core. Their ability to write songs that feel both intimate and expansive allowed them to bridge the gap between cult indie status and mainstream television placements.

Start with their self-titled 2005 album. It captures the band at their most cohesive, showcasing the chemistry between Adam Zindani's soaring vocals and the band's tight, driving arrangements. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who appreciates rock music with a genuine sense of swagger and heart.

Casino are a British rock/alternative band from Birmingham that was active in the early 2000s. By 2001, the band's songs had been featured on American television shows including The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. A demo tape landed their songs onto the soundtrack of the 2002 film Global Heresy starring Alicia Silverstone and Peter O'Toole, and the band were flown to Toronto to coach the cast on how to look like rock stars. The band changed its name to Spider Simpson but later changed it back to Casino. Guitarist and singer Adam Zindani left to join the Welsh band Stereophonics, but continued to perform with Casino, which had previously supported the Stereophonics on tour.
