High-gloss electropop and neon-soaked anthems designed for festival stages. Massive hooks, nostalgic energy, and production that feels like a permanent summer sunset.
Captain Cuts sounds like the exact moment a summer party hits its peak. Their music is a masterclass in high-definition pop, blending the infectious energy of 2000s pop-punk with the sleek, side-chained production of modern electronic dance music. It is bright, loud, and unashamedly catchy, characterized by massive synth stacks and vocal melodies that feel instantly familiar.
What sets them apart is their 'producer-as-artist' DNA. Because the members are behind some of the biggest radio hits of the last decade, their own tracks possess a surgical precision. They have a unique ability to weave millennial nostalgia into contemporary club structures, often using mashup-style logic to create songs that feel like a collective memory of the best night of your life.
Start with 'Love Like We Used To' for a perfect introduction to their soulful-meets-synthetic aesthetic. If you grew up on Warped Tour but live for the club, their 'Life of Emo' and 'Emoworld' projects provide a fascinating, high-energy bridge between those two worlds.
Captain Cuts is a songwriting, record production and remix team based in Los Angeles. The duo is composed of Ben Berger and Ryan Rabin (also formerly drummer and producer of the band Grouplove), but they also included Ryan McMahon. Collectively they have produced and co-written songs for artists such as Walk the Moon ("Shut Up and Dance"), Bebe Rexha ("I Got You"), Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Grouplove, Tove Lo, LÉON, Keith Urban, and Marina, among others. In December 2013, they signed a joint venture deal with Warner Bros Records to form Cuts Records, a record label through which to sign, produce and develop new artists. In 2016, they signed a record deal with Epic Records as artists and released their first single "Love Like We Used To" in October of that year.
