Formed in Los Angeles in 2008, Capital Cities is an American synth-pop and indie pop duo consisting of Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. The group signed with Capitol Records and Roc Nation, achieving significant commercial success with their breakout single, Safe and Sound. This track topped the US Alternative Songs chart and appeared in various international media campaigns, including television commercials and film soundtracks, establishing the band's presence in the modern pop landscape.
