Intro

Cakes da Killa sounds like the exact intersection of a gritty underground rap battle and a legendary house music club. The production is rooted in the propulsive, four-on-the-floor energy of 90s dance music, but it is topped with a lyrical dexterity that rivals the most technical MCs. It is music that refuses to sit still, characterized by thumping basslines, shimmering synth stabs, and a relentless rhythmic drive.

What truly sets him apart is the sheer speed and precision of his delivery. While many artists flirt with the 'house-rap' label, Cakes fully inhabits both worlds, treating the club beat not as a gimmick but as a high-speed obstacle course for his flow. His lyrics are witty, biting, and intensely charismatic, delivered with a confidence that feels both celebratory and confrontational.

Start with 'Don Dada' to hear the perfect marriage of his technical rap skills and dancefloor sensibilities. It is an essential entry point for anyone who wants to hear how hip-hop can be transformed when it embraces the kinetic energy of the ballroom and the warehouse party.

Bradshaw is currently based in Atlanta and his second full-length studio album Svengali was released on October 28, 2022.
