Burning Brides

Gritty, fuzz-heavy rock that pairs the brute force of stoner metal with the melodic hooks of 90s grunge. High-octane energy for late nights and loud rooms.

Intro

Burning Brides sound like the exact moment a garage rock band decides to start playing through a wall of vintage Marshall stacks. It is thick, syrupy, and undeniably heavy, yet it never loses sight of a catchy melody. There is a specific kind of Philadelphia grit here, a blue-collar toughness that makes the distortion feel earned rather than just aesthetic. The guitars are massive, often drenched in a fuzz that feels like it could vibrate the paint off the walls.

What truly sets them apart is the interplay between Dimitri Coats' raw, emotive vocals and the locked-in rhythm section. While many of their contemporaries in the early 2000s rock revival were looking back to the 60s, the Brides were fusing the sludge of the Melvins with the anthemic sensibilities of Nirvana. They have a unique ability to find 'pleasure in the pain,' creating music that feels both punishing and deeply cathartic, moving from a whisper to a supernova in a single bar.

Start with 'Fall of the Plastic Empire.' It is their definitive statement, capturing the raw energy of their live shows while showcasing their knack for writing riffs that stay stuck in your head for days. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who misses when rock music felt dangerous, loud, and uncomfortably honest.

Burning Brides was an American hard rock band. They were partially known for their live performances, such as selected dates as the opening band for The White Stripes in 2000. In 2002 they toured with …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Queens of the Stone Age, in 2003 with Audioslave, in 2004 with A Perfect Circle, in 2005 with Mastodon, and in 2006 with Eagles of Death Metal and Peaches. They also opened for both Melvins and Marilyn Manson in their home town of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
