Gritty Sunset Strip rock with a heavy blues-funk backbone. High-octane vocals and polished production for late nights and loud drives.
BulletBoys deliver a high-voltage brand of hard rock that feels like the sweat and neon of the late-80s Sunset Strip. While they are often grouped with the hair metal crowd, their sound is anchored by a much deeper appreciation for blues-rock and funk than many of their contemporaries. There is a palpable swagger in the rhythm section, providing a swinging pocket that allows the guitars to bite and the vocals to soar with a raspy, charismatic edge.
What truly distinguishes them is the 'Templeman touch' - the same production DNA found on classic Van Halen records. This gives their music a dry, punchy, and immediate feel that avoids the over-processed reverb traps of their era. Marq Torien’s vocal performance is a masterclass in rock showmanship, blending acrobatic screams with a soulful, almost R&B-influenced phrasing that makes even their heaviest tracks feel surprisingly danceable.
Start with their self-titled debut for the quintessential experience. Tracks like 'Smooth Up in Ya' and their inspired cover of 'For the Love of Money' showcase their ability to bridge the gap between heavy metal aggression and infectious, groove-heavy hooks. It is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who wants the energy of glam with the soul of the blues.
BulletBoys is an American hard rock/glam metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1987. The group's original lineup was composed of singer Marq Torien (formerly of Ratt, King Kobra, and Kagny & the Dirty Rats), guitarist Mick Sweda (formerly of King Kobra), bassist Lonnie Vencent (formerly of King Kobra), and drummer Jimmy D'Anda. The group released two successful albums and had a number of singles featured on MTV between 1988 and 1991. From the 1990s onward, the group went through numerous lineup changes, with Torien as the only consistent member. Their most recent album From Out of the Skies was released in 2018. The original lineup reunited for one-off shows in 2011 and 2019. The group were strongly influenced by AC/DC and Van Halen, with Torien drawing comparisons to Van Halen singer David Lee Roth.
