Buckshot

Gritty, distorted underground rap that feels like a VHS tape found in the woods. Murky beats meet a distinctive slurred flow for a dark, immersive experience.

Intro

This music sounds like the intersection of a dusty 90s vinyl crate and a haunted digital hard drive. It carries a heavy, saturated weight where the drums feel intentionally blown out and the melodies are often sourced from eerie, minor-key folk or acoustic loops. The atmosphere is thick with a sense of isolation and urban decay, creating a sonic world that is both claustrophobic and strangely expansive.

What sets this apart is the specific vocal delivery: a low-register, almost conversational flow that occasionally dissolves into melodic slurring. It avoids the polished sheen of mainstream rap in favor of a raw, DIY aesthetic that prioritizes texture over clarity. The production often incorporates elements of witch house and noise, making the tracks feel like they are decaying in real-time as you listen.

Start with the more recent collaborative work to understand the modern underground 'Haunted Mound' sound, then work backward to see how those gritty, lo-fi sensibilities evolved from traditional East Coast boom bap roots. It is perfect for listeners who want their hip-hop to feel a bit dangerous and deeply atmospheric.
