Intro

Blueprint offers a masterfully grounded take on underground hip-hop, where the production feels as lived-in as the lyrics. His sound is rooted in the classic boom-bap tradition, characterized by heavy, snapping snares and melodic soul samples that carry a sense of history. It is music that doesn't need to shout to be heard, relying instead on a steady, rhythmic pulse that invites the listener into a headspace of reflection and focus.

What truly sets him apart is his perspective as a blue-collar intellectual. While many of his contemporaries lean into abstract metaphors, Blueprint finds the profound in the mundane, documenting the struggles and small victories of everyday life with a clear-eyed honesty. His delivery is deliberate and authoritative, often serving as both the rapper and the architect of the beat, ensuring a seamless marriage between the mood of the music and the weight of the words.

Start with the album 1988 for a nostalgic yet sharp exploration of hip-hop's golden era influences, or dive into Adventures in Counter-Culture for a more experimental, genre-blurring experience. Whether he is collaborating with RJD2 in Soul Position or holding it down solo, the result is always music that feels authentic, intentional, and deeply human.

Albert Andrew Shepard, (born July 11, 1974), better known by his stage name Blueprint, is an American rapper and record producer from Columbus, Ohio. He is a founder of Weightless Recordings. Blueprint is one half of the duo Soul Position along with producer RJD2. He is also a member of the rap group Greenhouse (formerly known as Greenhouse Effect), which currently consists of himself and Illogic. The duo also run a podcast "Super Duty Tough Work" which airs on YouTube, SoundCloud, and other platforms.
