Blood is a seminal German deathgrind entity formed in 1986 in Speyer, standing as one of the longest-running active bands in the global grindcore scene. Alongside peers like Napalm Death and Agathocles, they were instrumental in codifying the 'deathgrind' hybrid, which fused the sociopolitical aggression and speed of grindcore with the darker, more complex harmonic structures of death metal.

Their early discography, particularly 'Impulse to Destroy' (1989) and 'Christbait' (1992), is cited as a foundational influence on the goregrind and brutal death metal subgenres. Despite numerous lineup changes, the core vision of guitarist Eisen and drummer Ventilator has remained consistent, prioritizing a raw, 'anti-commercial' production aesthetic. Critically, they are respected for their uncompromising adherence to underground values and their ability to maintain a prolific output across four decades without succumbing to over-production. Their sound is defined by a specific mid-to-fast tempo 'churn' and a vocal approach that pioneered the use of multi-tonal extremity.
