Sleek, dark synth-pop that pairs dramatic vocals with pulsating club rhythms. It is the sound of a neon-lit night where the shadows are as loud as the bass.
Blaqk Audio sounds like a high-definition fever dream of the 1980s, filtered through the aggressive precision of modern industrial production. It is music that feels both cold and burning, characterized by shimmering synthesizer layers that wrap around heavy, danceable beats. The atmosphere is consistently nocturnal, evoking the specific tension of a crowded club where you still feel entirely alone.
What makes the duo truly distinctive is the interplay between Jade Puget's intricate, often maximalist programming and Davey Havok's theatrical vocal presence. Havok brings a dramatic, almost operatic sensibility to the electronic landscape, shifting from a velvet croon to urgent, breathy hooks. Unlike many of their darkwave peers, there is a polished, pop-leaning accessibility here that never sacrifices its gothic heart or its obsession with digital texture.
Start with CexCells to hear the foundation of their sound, particularly the anthem 'Stiff Kittens.' It perfectly captures their ability to merge dark, brooding aesthetics with infectious, floor-filling energy. From there, move to Material for a more refined, house-influenced take on their signature electronic gloom.
