Bisk

Bisk, the primary alias of Japanese producer Naohiro Fujikawa, is a seminal figure in the experimental electronic and IDM scene of the late 1990s. Emerging from the Hyogo prefecture, Fujikawa gained international recognition through the Belgian label Sub Rosa, a platform known for its commitment to avant-garde and musique concrete.

His sound identity is defined by a 'fractured' approach to sampling, where elements of jazz, techno, and hip-hop are deconstructed into micro-rhythms and textural shards. This aesthetic, often referred to as 'post-techno,' positioned him alongside artists like Atom Heart and the early Mille Plateaux roster. His career arc saw a prolific initial burst with 'Time' (1996) and 'Strange or Funny-Haha?' (1997), albums that are now considered cult classics of the glitch era. While his output slowed in the mid-2000s, his return with works like 'Vacation Package' (2021) demonstrates a continued mastery of rhythmic complexity.
