Behemoth

Behemoth is the definitive architect of the Polish blackened death metal sound. Formed in 1991 by Adam 'Nergal' Darski, the band began as a traditional, primitive black metal act (Sventevith) before undergoing a radical transformation in the late 90s.

6', they had integrated the technicality and muscularity of death metal into their black metal roots. This hybrid style reached its commercial and critical zenith with 2014's 'The Satanist', an album widely cited as one of the most important metal releases of the 21st century. Their sound is characterized by Inferno's world-class drumming, Nergal's layered 'god-voice' vocals, and a lyrical focus on Thelema, Nietzschean philosophy, and anti-religious defiance.
