ATK (Avoue que Tu Kiffes) is a seminal French hip-hop collective formed in 1995, emerging from the vibrant underground scenes of Paris's 11th, 19th, and 20th arrondissements. Originally a massive 21-member posse, they eventually consolidated into a core septet comprising Apocalypse (Axis and Antilop Sa), Maximum de Phases (Test and Fredy K), Legadulabo (Cyanure and Freko Ding), and DJ Tacteel.
Their sound is the definitive bridge between the early 90s boom bap and the more technical, independent French rap of the 2000s. Their landmark album 'Heptagone' (1998) is a cornerstone of the genre, praised for its cohesive atmosphere and intricate lyricism. Tacteel's production provided a sophisticated sonic identity that influenced the later 'French Touch' and electronic scenes. Despite long hiatuses and the tragic passing of Fredy K in 2007, the group remains a revered institution in French rap, representing a purist, sample-heavy aesthetic that prioritizes lyrical substance and atmospheric depth over commercial trends.
