Anomalie

Anomalie is the creative vehicle of multi-instrumentalist Marrok, based in Austria. Since its inception in 2011, the project has evolved from a traditional atmospheric black metal act into a sophisticated blend of post-metal, folk, and progressive elements.

Marrok, who has also performed with prominent acts like Harakiri for the Sky, brings a high level of technical proficiency and emotional depth to the project. The sound identity is defined by its 'Alpine' aesthetic, frequently utilizing themes of nature, solitude, and spiritual transcendence. Unlike the 'raw' black metal scene, Anomalie prioritizes high-fidelity production and dynamic songwriting, often incorporating clean acoustic interludes and complex rhythmic structures. Critically, the band is viewed as a bridge between the aggressive roots of European black metal and the more melodic, introspective 'post-black' movement. Their discography, particularly the 'Vision' and 'Trance' series, demonstrates a commitment to thematic cohesion and world-building through sound.
