Polished, piano-led indie pop with a heavy dose of British melancholy. Warm melodies and orchestral flourishes for quiet mornings and reflective evenings.
Andy Burrows crafts music that feels like a soft woolen sweater on a brisk day. While he spent years behind the drum kit for Razorlight, his solo work reveals a sensitive, piano-driven songwriter with a gift for hooks that feel both fresh and instantly familiar. His sound is rooted in a classic British tradition of melodic pop, leaning into lush arrangements that never feel overstuffed.
What truly distinguishes Burrows is his ability to balance cinematic scale with bedroom intimacy. Whether he is composing for film or writing personal ballads, there is a consistent thread of wistfulness and 'hiraeth' - a longing for a home or a time that might not exist anymore. His vocals are gentle and unforced, often layered in soft harmonies that provide a cushion for his more melancholic lyrical themes.
Start with the album 'Company' to hear his pop sensibilities at their peak. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who appreciates the intersection of indie rock energy and sophisticated chamber pop arrangements. From there, explore his soundtrack work for a deeper dive into his more atmospheric and instrumental textures.
