Andromeda

Andromeda is a Swedish progressive metal quintet that emerged at the turn of the millennium, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the European technical metal scene. Formed in 1999 by guitarist Johan Reinholdz, the band's sound is characterized by a fusion of neoclassical guitar techniques, jazz-fusion influenced keyboard work, and the rhythmic complexity of bands like Dream Theater.

Their debut, 'Extension of the Wish', established them as a force in the genre, featuring high-register vocals and intricate arrangements that pushed the boundaries of traditional heavy metal. Over their career, the band evolved from pure technicality toward a more dark, atmospheric, and occasionally industrial-tinged sound, particularly on later albums like 'Manifest Tyranny'. Critically, they are regarded as one of the most consistent acts in the 'prog-power' crossover space, praised for their instrumental virtuosity and Reinholdz's distinctive, fluid soloing style.
