Scrappy, high-energy garage rock with a youthful edge. Think crunchy guitars and infectious hooks perfect for city nights and basement shows.
Amplified delivers a punchy, unpretentious brand of rock that feels like a snapshot of mid-2000s youth culture. Their sound is defined by a lean, three-piece arrangement where the interplay between jagged guitar riffs and a driving rhythm section takes center stage. It is music that prioritizes energy and immediacy over complex studio wizardry, retaining a raw, live-in-the-room quality even in its more polished moments.
What sets them apart is their unique cultural positioning, blending a Hong Kong origin with a sound that fits perfectly into the Japanese indie rock scene of the era. There is a distinct 'garage' sensibility here, reminiscent of the post-punk revival, but infused with a melodic brightness that makes their tracks feel both urgent and accessible. The vocals carry a slight grit that complements the distorted textures of the instrumentation.
To get the full experience, start with 'Mr. Raindrop.' It captures their ability to craft a memorable hook while maintaining a restless, kinetic energy. From there, dive into their debut album 'Turn It Up!' to hear a band fully embracing the loud, fast, and fun ethos of early 21st-century alternative rock.
Amplified is a rock band consisting of three young boys from Hong Kong. While from Hong Kong, they are primarily known in Japan.
