Amanda Lepore

High-glam electropop and breathy club anthems. The sound of New York nightlife, saturated in pink neon, heavy bass, and unapologetic hyper-femininity.

Intro

Amanda Lepore's music is the sonic equivalent of a David LaChapelle photograph: bright, saturated, hyper-real, and deeply rooted in the art of artifice. It is a world of shimmering synths and steady, driving house beats that demand movement. The production is polished to a high-gloss sheen, favoring the synthetic and the spectacular over the organic. It is music that feels like it was born in a VIP booth and raised on the dance floor.

What makes her sound truly distinctive is the vocal delivery. Lepore utilizes a breathy, almost whispered deadpan that sits right at the front of the mix. It is a vocal style that prioritizes character and presence over traditional range, creating an intimate yet untouchable persona. The lyrics often lean into camp and celebration, turning the mundane rituals of nightlife and beauty into high-stakes performance art.

For those looking to dive in, 'Cotton Candy' or 'My Hair Looks Fierce' are the essential entry points. These tracks perfectly capture the intersection of club culture and pop sensibility that defines her career. It is the ideal soundtrack for anyone who views getting ready as the main event and the night itself as a stage for self-expression.

Amanda Lepore is an American transgender model, singer, and performance artist. A former Club Kid, she has appeared in advertising for numerous companies. Lepore is noted as a regular subject in photographer David LaChapelle's work, serving as his muse, as well as many other photographers, such as Terry Richardson and Ruben van Schalm. She participated in LaChapelle's Artists and Prostitutes 1985–2005 exhibit in New York City, where she "lived" in a voyeuristic, life-sized set. Lepore has released several singles, many written by and/or recorded with gay rapper and singer Cazwell. In 2011, she released her debut studio album, I...Amanda Lepore, on Peace Bisquit.
