Formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969, the American country music band Alabama features cousins Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook. Originally performing as Young Country and Wildcountry, the group adopted their current name in 1977. After signing with RCA Records, they achieved massive success throughout the 1980s with 27 number-one country hits and seven multi-platinum albums. Their significant contributions to the genre earned them a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
