Intro

This is hip-hop that demands to be heard at high volume. Built on the foundation of Southern trap and Atlanta's polished production standards, the sound is characterized by booming 808s, shimmering synth leads, and a relentless forward momentum. It captures the heat of a Texas summer and the polished sheen of modern radio rap, but replaces typical hedonism with a sense of urgent, higher purpose.

What truly sets this collective apart is the sheer density of talent and the variety of their delivery. You get the technical precision of rapid-fire 'chopper' flows alongside melodic, anthemic choruses that feel ready for a festival stage. The chemistry between the members creates a relay-race energy where each verse tries to outdo the last in both technical skill and lyrical depth.

Start with 'Man Up' for a definitive look at their high-production era, or '13 Letters' if you want to hear how they weave complex theology into traditional boom-bap structures. It is the perfect choice for anyone who loves the sonic weight of T.I. or Lecrae but wants lyrics that challenge the status quo of the genre.

The 116, formerly 116 Clique (pronounced one-one-six click), is an American Southern Christian hip hop collective originally from Dallas, Texas signed to the Atlanta-based Reach Records. The group performs a wide variety of contemporary hip hop styles, from chopped and screwed to trap to Latin hip hop. The 116 Clique is named after the Bible verse Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile." For them it means acknowledging the power of the Gospel and the divine calling to proclaim it in every area of their life. "We can lay our lives down to serve and glorify God in everything we do."
