Welcome Home Armageddon

A high-velocity return to post-hardcore form. Sharp, metallic riffs collide with anthemic melodies and a persistent sense of Welsh melancholy.

Welcome Home Armageddon feels like a band rediscovering their pulse. After years of experimenting with more traditional rock structures and polished pop sensibilities, this record sees Funeral for a Friend leaning back into the sharp, jagged edges that defined their early career. It is a record of friction: the friction between thrash-metal-influenced guitar work and the soaring, almost fragile melodicism of Matt Davies-Convey’s vocals. There is a palpable sense of urgency here, as if the band is trying to outrun their own history while simultaneously embracing it.

Moments Worth Listening For
The explosive transition from the atmospheric intro into the frantic riffing of Old Hymns.
The way the bridge in Sixteen builds from a rhythmic chug into a massive, melodic payoff.
The interplay between the jagged, metallic verses and the wide-open choruses in Front Row Seats to the End of the World.
