Uncertain Country marks a significant milestone for Great Lake Swimmers, arriving two decades after their debut. Recorded primarily at the historic Legion 129 in Haliburton, Ontario, and a parish hall in the same region, the album continues Tony Dekker’s obsession with site-specific recording. This 15-track collection is structured with several short instrumental interludes that incorporate field recordings, grounding the music in the physical environment of the Canadian North Shore. Critically, the album has been noted for its expansion of the band's sonic palette - incorporating more prominent piano and diverse percussion while maintaining the 'ghostly' indie-folk core.
