Transmissions: Vol. 01

Released in late 2014, 'Transmissions: Vol. 01' represents a significant stylistic departure for Klayton (Celldweller). Known primarily for a maximalist blend of industrial rock and drum and bass, Klayton used this volume to showcase his extensive work with modular synthesizers and his interest in ambient and cinematic soundscapes. The album is entirely instrumental, stripping away the aggressive vocals that defined his earlier career. It was born out of his 'modular sessions,' where he would record long-form improvisations and then meticulously edit them into cohesive tracks. This process resulted in a sound that is more aligned with IDM and dark ambient than his traditional rock-adjacent output. Critically, it was seen as a testament to his versatility as a producer and sound designer, often being cited by fans as a 'headphone masterpiece' for its technical depth and atmospheric consistency.
