Released in 2021, The Sky Is Bleeding represents a refined peak in Biig Piig's early discography, moving away from the sunnier lo-fi hip-hop of her 'Big Fan of the Sesh' era toward a darker, more sophisticated R&B sound. The EP was produced largely by Zach Nahome, whose minimalist approach allows Smyth's vocals to occupy the center of a very wide, very dark sonic stage. The project is notable for its seamless integration of English and Spanish, reflecting Smyth's upbringing in Spain and Ireland.
