The Gray Race

Released in 1996, The Gray Race marks a pivotal moment in Bad Religion's history as the first full-length following the departure of founding guitarist and co-songwriter Brett Gurewitz. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York with producer Ric Ocasek, the album represents a significant sonic departure from the 'Epitaph sound' they pioneered. While Gurewitz famously criticized the album as 'uninspired' at the time, critics like Dave Thompson have noted it as a 'gritty classic' that returned to the edge found on their 1992 album Generator.
