Simmer Down

Simmer Down is the debut EP from British musician Alexander Kotz, performing as Elderbrook. Released in late 2014, it served as a definitive introduction to his signature 'bedroom house' sound. The EP is anchored by the breakout track 'Could', which showcased his unique ability to blend organic foley-based percussion with soulful, breathy vocals. Unlike many of his contemporaries in the UK electronic scene who leaned into garage or bass-heavy house, Elderbrook prioritized a minimalist, downtempo approach. The inclusion of the Andhim remix of 'How Many Times' proved pivotal, as it became a staple in the deep house circuit and helped propel the EP to international recognition.
