Resurrection Through Carnage

Resurrection Through Carnage is the debut studio album by the Swedish death metal supergroup Bloodbath, released in 2002. The project brought together members of Opeth, Katatonia, and Edge of Sanity with the explicit goal of reviving the 'Stockholm sound' pioneered by bands like Entombed and Dismember. This album is particularly notable for being the only Bloodbath release to feature Dan Swanö on drums, as he would later transition to guitar. The production, handled by the band themselves, intentionally mimics the legendary Sunlight Studio aesthetic, characterized by the 'chainsaw' guitar tone achieved via the Boss HM-2 pedal. Critically, the album was hailed as a triumphant return to form for the genre, successfully bridging the gap between old-school death metal worship and modern recording standards. It remains a cornerstone of the Swedish death metal revival movement.
