Multitudes

Released in 2023, Multitudes represents Feist's most experimental and intimate work to date, marking a significant evolution from the indie-pop sensibilities of The Reminder. The album was born out of a unique 'in-the-round' concert residency where Feist performed new material in unconventional spaces, a process that deeply influenced the record's spatial and tactile sound. Lyrically, the album is a profound exploration of the 'multitudes' of human experience, specifically the intersection of birth and death as Feist navigated new motherhood and the loss of her father. Produced by Feist alongside frequent collaborators Robbie Lackritz and Mocky, the technical approach favors extreme close-miking and minimal processing, creating a 'dry' sonic environment that places the listener in the room with the performer.
