Released in 1975, Modern Times is the pivotal sixth studio album by Al Stewart and marks his first collaboration with producer Alan Parsons. This partnership was transformative, moving Stewart away from the sparser folk of his early career toward a more cinematic, 'big studio' sound that would culminate in the massive success of Year of the Cat. The album is notable for its literary depth, including 'Sirens of Titan,' which directly references the Kurt Vonnegut novel, and the ambitious title track which clocks in at over eight minutes.
