Man-Child

Released in 1975, Man-Child represents the commercial and stylistic peak of Herbie Hancock's jazz-funk era. Following the success of Head Hunters and Thrust, this album saw Hancock moving further away from the 'space jazz' of his Mwandishi period toward a more structured, R&B-influenced sound. The album is notable for its massive ensemble, featuring a rotating cast of legendary session musicians and a heavy emphasis on electric guitar, which was a relatively new addition to Hancock's palette at the time.
