Released in late 2020, Major Threats represents a significant stylistic expansion for the industrial metal outfit Dope. While the band has long been associated with the nu-metal and industrial scenes of the early 2000s, this EP sees them leaning heavily into the aesthetics of modern bass music, including dubstep, wave, and trap. The project is structured as a four-track core followed by five remixes, signaling a collaborative approach with electronic producers like Starkey, Deadcrow, and Dj Ride. This integration of 'slimepunk' and glitch elements into their signature mechanical pulse creates a hybrid sound that updates their aesthetic for a new decade.
