Life Cycles

Released in 2012, Life Cycles represents a pivotal shift for The Word Alive, marking their first release following the departure of keyboardist Dusty Riach. This lineup change resulted in a noticeably 'metal-headed' sound, trading some of the previous synth-heavy textures for a more dominant and technical guitar presence. Produced by Joey Sturgis, the album features his signature high-definition, punchy production style which defined the metalcore sound of the era. The record explores themes of growth, perseverance, and the cyclical nature of life's struggles, delivered through a blend of complex polyrhythmic structures and accessible song formats. Critically, it was seen as a maturation of the band's sound, moving them toward the forefront of the Fearless Records roster and solidifying their place in the post-hardcore landscape. The 14-track journey is relentless, characterized by its high energy and the vocal versatility of frontman Tyler 'Telle' Smith.
