Released in 2000, Junior Varsity is the debut EP from Say Anything, recorded when frontman Max Bemis was still in his teens. It represents a significant sonic departure from the band's later work, such as '...Is a Real Boy,' as it lacks the cynical humor and complex arrangements that became their hallmark. Instead, the EP is a foundational document of early 2000s emo, blending acoustic-driven indie rock with the melodic sensibilities of pop-punk.
