Holy Money

Recorded during the same prolific 1986 sessions as Greed and the A Screw EP, Holy Money represents the peak of Swans' early industrial period. While their debut Cop was defined by raw, abrasive noise, Holy Money introduces a more sophisticated, mechanical sense of dread. It marked the early involvement of Jarboe, whose presence began to shift the band's palette toward the more atmospheric and diverse textures seen in their later work. The album is historically significant for its role in bridging the gap between New York No Wave and the birth of industrial metal, directly influencing acts like Godflesh and Sunn O))).
