Get Down EP

The Get Down EP is a visceral experience of rhythm that feels less like a collection of songs and more like a captured moment of late-night intensity. Spencer Kincy, recording as Gemini, was a master of the unhinged groove. While other house producers of the late 90s were moving toward cleaner, more digital sounds, Kincy stayed rooted in the grit of the MPC and the 909. This EP sounds like the air in a club at 4:00 AM: thick, humid, and vibrating with a nervous energy that compels you to keep moving. The tracks are built on loops that feel like they might spin out of control at any second, yet they are held together by a preternatural sense of swing that is unique to the Chicago tradition.
