Franks Wild Years

Released in 1987, Franks Wild Years serves as the final installment in Tom Waits' informal 'Island Trilogy,' following Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs. Subtitled 'Un Operachi Romantico in Two Acts,' the album is a studio adaptation of a stage play Waits co-wrote with Kathleen Brennan. The narrative follows the character Frank, first introduced in a spoken-word track on Swordfishtrombones, as he travels from a burnt-out home to the glitz of Las Vegas and back to the cold ground.
