Forever

Released in 1997, Forever arrived at a turbulent time in Bobby Brown's career, shortly after his departure from New Edition's Home Again tour. Originally conceived as Bobby II, the project initially aimed for a star-studded production lineup including Teddy Riley and Sean Combs, but eventually moved toward a more streamlined production style. Sonically, the album is a departure from the aggressive New Jack Swing that defined his earlier solo success, opting instead for a polished, mid-tempo R&B sound influenced by the burgeoning neo-soul movement and late-90s pop-R&B. The album's single, Feelin' Inside, showcased this smoother direction but failed to replicate his previous commercial heights. Interestingly, rumors persisted that tracks were salvaged from a scrapped role in Disney's A Goofy Movie, though the album stands as a standalone document of Brown's late-90s artistic headspace.
