Released in 2010, Fields marked the long-awaited debut LP from Junip, a trio consisting of José González, Elias Araya, and Tobias Winterkorn. Although the band formed in the late 90s, González's massive solo success delayed their full-length debut for over a decade. The album incorporates tracks from the Rope & Summit EP, refining a sound that critics noted for its 'otherworldly' and 'seductive' qualities. Sonically, the album is defined by its use of nylon-string guitars, Moog synthesizers, and a rhythmic approach heavily influenced by Jaki Liebezeit's drumming in Can.
