Released in September 2013 on the Young Turks label, EP2 is a landmark collaborative effort between FKA twigs and Venezuelan producer Arca. Spanning four tracks, the EP solidified twigs' signature sound: a fusion of avant-garde electronic production, trip-hop rhythms, and contemporary R&B vocal sensibilities. Arca's production on the record is characterized by its metallic, glitch-heavy textures, asymmetrical drum programming, and deep, physical sub-bass, which contrast sharply with twigs' delicate, operatic falsetto. The release was accompanied by a series of striking, highly stylized music videos that emphasized the project's focus on physical performance and body horror. EP2 served as a crucial bridge from her self-released debut to her critically acclaimed debut studio album, LP1, establishing her as a leading figure in experimental pop.
