Released in 2017, the self-titled EP serves as the debut statement for the Victoria, B.C.-based duo Ocie Elliott. Recorded at the Woodshop Recording Studio and refined at Protection Island by Jonathan Anderson, the project established the duo's signature 'living room' aesthetic. While many indie folk acts utilize reverb to create a sense of space, Ocie Elliott opted for a bone-dry, intimate capture that emphasizes the physical reality of the performance. The five tracks are remarkably consistent, focusing on themes of devotion and natural imagery. This EP was the catalyst for their significant streaming success, particularly the track 'I Got You, Honey,' which became a staple of 'slow living' and 'acoustic' playlists. It remains a foundational text for their discography, containing all the elements - intertwined harmonies, fingerpicked guitar, and gentle pacing - that would define their later full-length albums.
