Released in 2004 on Victory Records, Cover Your Tracks is the definitive statement of Bury Your Dead’s 'moshcore' sound. Following their debut, the band leaned further into the breakdown-centric songwriting that would influence a generation of metalcore and deathcore acts. The album is famous for its gimmick of naming every song after a Tom Cruise movie, a move that became a trivia staple of the mid-2000s hardcore scene. Sonically, the record is characterized by Mat Bruso’s distinct, gravelly vocal delivery and a production style that emphasizes the kick drum and low-end guitar chugs.
