Colorir

Released in late 2018, Colorir served as the definitive introduction of Majur to the Brazilian music scene. Produced by Jaguar Andrade, the EP distilled Majur's unique 'Afro-Pop' sound into three potent tracks that blended contemporary R&B with deep-rooted Bahian rhythmic traditions. The project was pivotal in establishing Majur as a leading voice for LGBTQ+ and Afro-Brazilian representation, quickly catching the attention of icons like Caetano Veloso and future collaborators like Liniker. Sonically, the EP is characterized by its rich vocal layering and the prominent use of percussion, which distinguishes it from more electronic-heavy R&B of the era. Despite its short runtime, Colorir effectively mapped out the artist's thematic territory: self-love, ancestral connection, and the fluid nature of identity. It remains a foundational text in the modern MPB and Brazilian Soul movements of the late 2010s.
