Chain Tripping

Chain Tripping represents a pivotal moment in YACHT's career, where their long-standing interest in technology and conceptual art culminated in a deeply collaborative process with artificial intelligence. To create the album, the trio (Jona Bechtolt, Claire L. Evans, and Rob Kieswetter) utilized neural networks to generate lyrics and melodic fragments based on their previous discography, which they then arranged and performed. This 'human-in-the-loop' approach resulted in a sound that is recognizably YACHT but pushed into stranger, more dissonant territories. Critically, the album was praised for its successful integration of high-concept AI experimentation with the band's signature dance-pop sensibilities, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Immersive Audio Album.
