Carpe Diem

Released in late 2009, Carpe Diem represents the fifth studio outing for the French power metal outfit Heavenly. Following the success of Virus, this album further refined the band's signature blend of Helloween-style speed and Queen-inspired vocal arrangements. Led by the virtuosic vocals of Ben Sotto, the record is notable for its high-register acrobatics and complex multi-tracking. Sonically, it leans heavily into neoclassical territory, with guitarist Olivier Lapauze delivering intricate, sweep-picked passages that mirror the keyboard lines. The album received positive marks from the power metal community for its production clarity and its refusal to slow down, even during its more progressive moments like 'A Better Me'.
