Banjo Story

Recorded in 1988, Banjo Story is a foundational document of Beck Hansen's early development as an anti-folk pioneer. Originally distributed as a self-released cassette, it predates his commercial breakthrough by several years and captures a purely acoustic, lo-fi aesthetic. The album is centered around the banjo, an instrument Beck would continue to use throughout his career, but here it is treated with a punk-rock irreverence.
