7th Symphony

Released in 2010, 7th Symphony represents Apocalyptica's refined balance between their roots as a classical-metal cover band and their evolution into a global symphonic metal powerhouse. Following the massive success of 'Worlds Collide', this album continues the 'four vocalists, many instrumentals' formula but leans harder into progressive territory. The instrumental opener 'At the Gates of Manala' signals a return to more complex, multi-movement compositions. A major highlight is the collaboration with Slayer's Dave Lombardo on '2010', which pushes the cellos into thrash metal speeds. The album also features significant vocal contributions from Gavin Rossdale (Bush) and Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf), bridging the gap between Finnish metal and American alternative rock.
